Anne Rung, administrator of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy, has called for the government to reform the acquisition aspect first in order to improve federal information technology, Spend Matters reported Tuesday.
Jason Busch writes Rung discussed federal IT procurement during the ISM and Spend Matters Global Procurement Tech Summit in Baltimore.
âThe challenge for me in this position is that to improve IT in the federal government we need to fix the acquisition piece,” Rung told the summit.
Federal IT procurements represent more than 10 percent of the government’s acquisition budget, according to the report.
Rung, an inductee into Executive Mosaic‘s Wash100 for 2016, said changes to federal acquisitions involve policy, practice and technology, Spend Matters reports.
