Obama to Nominate Peggy Gustafson as Commerce Dept Inspector General

WhiteHousePresident Barack Obama intends to nominate current Small Business Administration Inspector General Peggy Gustafson to a similar position at the Commerce Department, the White House announced Thursday.

Gustafson, who has held her current role since 2009, previously served as general counsel to U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill and advised the senator on government issues as well as helped draft two bills that worked to support the federal offices of inspectors general.

The Chicago native also worked as general counsel for the Missouri State Auditor’s Office from 1999 to 2007, as chair of the insurance fraud task force and as assistant county counselor and assistant prosecuting attorney for the Jackson County government in the state.

Gustafson has a bachelor’s degree from Grinnell College and a judicial studies degree from Northwestern University’s School of Law.
