digital governmentThe General Services Administration has created a third service line to help federal agencies identify and acquire tools and platforms to digitally transform their organizations.

GSA established the Technology Transformation Service organization to house the agency’s digital services group 18F, Office of Citizen Services and Innovative Technologies and Presidential Innovation Fellows program, the agency said Tuesday.

The agency named Phaedra Chrousos, former associate administrator of OCSIT, as commissioner of the new service line and appointed Aaron Snow, current executive director of 18F, as deputy commissioner.

“The Technology Transformation Service will help agencies navigate how to build, buy, and share user-centered and emerging technology solutions,” GSA Administrator Denise Turner Roth wrote in a blog entry posted Tuesday.

The organization also seeks to provide GSA a platform to implement emerging technology projects.

GSA has two other business lines, namely the Public Buildings Service and the Federal Acquisition Service.
