Doug Stanglin writes the department’s office of foreign assets control made some changes on economic sanctions imposed by the previous administration against all transactions and activities with Russia’s federal security service.
Former President Barack Obama banned such transactions amid allegations that the Russian agency launched cyber efforts to influence the U.S. presidential election, Stanglin reported.
White House spokesman Sean Spicer said the Treasury took “a regular course of action” to mitigate unintended effects of sanctions.
