The committee said Thursday its FY 2017 defense appropriations bill “closely reflects” the version that the full House approved last summer and aligns with the enacted National Defense Authorization Act.
The committee proposed $516.1 billion in DoD discretionary funds and $61.8 billion in overseas contingency operations funds — an increase of $2 billion and $3.2 billion from current levels, respectively.
The budget reflects a $5.2 billion increase from the FY 2016 enacted funding level and provides $1.6 billion more than the Obama administration’s request.
Military personnel would get a 2.1 percent pay raise and see an increase of 1,000 troops each for the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Army National Guard and Army Reserve under the proposed legislation.
The bill also sets aside $215.3 billion for operation and maintenance; $72.7 billion for defense technology research and development; $117.8 billion for equipment procurement; and $34.1 billion for defense health and military family programs.
House members are scheduled to take up the bill next week.
