FCC reported on May 8 that external threat actors orchestrated the DDoS attacks to bombard the comment portal and prevented legitimate commenters to submit feedback on the agencyâs rulemaking proceedings.
The lawmakers said in a letter published Wednesday that the FBI should prioritize the probe into the cyber attack that âmay have denied the American people the opportunity to contribute to what is supposed to be a fair and transparent process.â
The senators called on Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe to provide updates on the issue by June 23.
Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) co-wrote the letter with Sens. Al Franken (D-Minnesota), Ed Markey (D-Massachusetts), Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont) and Ron Wyden (D-Oregon).
