GSA IG to Investigate Revised FBI HQ Consolidation Plan

1 min read

The General Services Administration‘s inspector general will review GSA’s decision to change its plans for the consolidation of the FBI‘s headquarters.

GSA IG Carol Ochoa wrote Tuesday in a letter to Rep. Gerald Connolly (D-Virginia) that her office will look into GSA’s decision-making process for the revised FBI Headquarters Consolidation project.

The review will also determine whether the new plan sufficiently accounts for the project’s full costs and security requirements.

In February, Connolly asked the GSA IG to study why the agency and the FBI scrapped a plan move the latter to a consolidated headquarters in Maryland or Virginia, Federal News Radio reported Wednesday.

The new plan involves the demolition of the FBI’s J. Edgar Hoover building to replace it with a new headquarters facility.

The revised strategy would also relocate more than 2,000 FBI employees to new offices in West Virginia, Alabama and Idaho.
