The U.S. Digital Service has listed its accomplishments in 2017 and its ongoing projects with various federal agencies in an annual report to Congress, Nextgov reported Tuesday.
Matt Cutts, USDS acting administrator, said in the report that the service worked to revive failed digital systems, consolidate services and design intuitive interfaces as part of efforts to develop secure, efficient and updated government services.
USDS currently carries out 11 programs at six agencies, including an effort to streamline the Department of Veterans Affairs‘ veteran-facing services and appeals processing through Vets.gov, as well as a push to optimize government consumer identity with the General Services Administration‘s Login.gov website.
The service also helps the Small Business Administration modernize small business certification programs and assists the Department of Homeland Security in upgrading the U.S. immigration system.
Cutts said he expects ongoing USDS programs to save the government $617 million and 1,475 labor years in the next five years.
