A U.S. Army official has said that the Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure cloud contract does not preclude the implementation of other pilot cloud projects within the Defense Department, FCW reported Thursday.
Maj. Gen. Garrett Yee, deputy chief information officer for the U.S. Army, made the remarks during a recent AFCEA luncheon, where Edward Siomacco, a deputy director at the Armyâs G-4 headquarters, described a six-month trial commercial cloud effort being carried out by the Army Business Council.
According to Yee, the ABCâs initiative âisnât in conflictâ with JEDI.
JEDI is a $10B sole-sourced Defense Department contract Involving the migration of sensitive DoD data onto the commercial cloud solution of the successful bidder.
Amazon, IBM and Microsoft have indicated their plan to bid.
