Federal Chief Information Officer and 2019 Wash100 Award winner Suzette Kent said the administration’s modernization efforts for 2019 include building public trust with new technologies supporting government operations, such as automation and artificial intelligence, Nextgov reported Wednesday. She said the effort comes as the government already made progress in updating policies supporting federal digital transformation.
“Last year you heard me talk a lot about updating policies,†Kent said during the recent ServiceNow Federal Summit. “The reason we did that was to get rid of the barriers and unlock the ability for agencies to aggressively pursue†modernization.
She said the government needs to foster public trust and confidence using analytics, automation, natural language processing and AI. To do that, the administration should increase transparency in its digital transformation efforts, particularly in the use of algorithms and data. Kent said that she will apply new technologies to protect citizen privacy and improve information sharing between agencies this year.
