1 min read

Erik Raven is set to step down as undersecretary of the Navy in August.

Raven has held the position since 2022, in which capacity he has also served as the Department of the Navy’s chief operating officer and chief management officer.

Commenting on Raven’s upcoming departure, Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro praised the outgoing official for his leadership, expertise and commitment to defending the U.S.

“We have benefited from Erik’s wise counsel and loyal service to the Department and to our Nation. Our national security, Navy, and Marine Corps are stronger because of his service,” Del Toro said.

No specifics have been revealed regarding Raven’s next steps.

A report from USNI News cites Navy spokesperson Capt. Courtney Hillson as saying Raven seeks to focus on his family while also pursuing other opportunities.

Naval leaders, experts and innovators from government and industry will discuss how they’re enhancing maritime security, driving technological advancements and fostering strategic cooperation during the Potomac Officers Club’s 2024 Navy Summit, which will take place on Aug. 15.
