The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency held its DARPA Demo Day 2016 at the Pentagon Wednesday to provide members of the Defense Department community an “up-close” look at DARPA’s technology and military systems portfolio.

DARPA program managers, academic and private-sector project leaders demonstrated over 60 ongoing programs that encompass early phases to existing warfighter and military support technology, the agency said Wednesday.

Arati Prabhakar, DARPA director, said the Demo Day event acted as an outlet for the agency’s people to share its work for the members of the science and technology community that include defense companies, commercial startups, firms, universities, government agencies, laboratories and other DoD partners.

The event featured 10 strategic investment categories that the agency’s research focus on including air, biology, counterterrorism, cyber, ground warfare, maritime, microsystems, seeds of surprise, spectrum and space.

DoD also added that demonstrations of the technologies filled the Pentagon’s center courtyard throughout the one-day event.
