Nextgov obtained a copy of the proposed bill that also seeks to encourage collaboration between the Transportation Department and industry to establish a program for voluntary disclosure of automated vehicle security vulnerabilities.
The bill also calls for the formation of a committee that would have members from both public and private sectors and be tasked to recommend technical safety methods for self-driving cars.
Reuters reported Thursday the House voted unanimously to pass legislation that would prohibit U.S. states from banning sale of automated vehicles.
