Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan has ordered the state’s homeland security office to collaborate with other government agencies, companies and academic institutions to develop a statewide cybersecurity preparedness framework.

Hogan’s office said Thursday Executive Order 01.01.2017.22 calls for the analysis of current plans and development of best practices to guard state government systems against cyber threats.

The draft cybersecurity plan will include recommendations from the Maryland Cybersecurity Council as well as a contingency plan from the state’s information technology department and emergency management agency.

Hogan expects to receive the draft plan in May 2018.
