Navy’s 40 Cyber Mission Force Teams Reach Full Operational Capability Status

1 min read

The U.S. Navy’s 40 cyber mission force teams obtained full operational capability designation in October, the Defense Department reported Thursday.

The service’s CMF teams achieved the FOC status after the U.S. Cyber Command conducted a validation process on Oct. 6 to assess whether the units meet training, capability and manning requirements, officials with the U.S. Fleet Cyber Command’s U.S. 10th fleet said.

The FOC milestone seeks to reflect the completion of at least 18,000 courses and 2,000 hours of full-spectrum operations involving approximately 1,800 personnel, the officials added.

“Although reaching this milestone is a great accomplishment, the true challenge will be sustaining readiness and the prompt ability to ‘answer all bells’ when directed by U.S. Cyber Command,” said Vice Adm. Michael Gilday, chief of the U.S. Fleet Cyber Command/U.S. 10th Fleet.

The CMF team’s focus aligns with DoD’s cyber strategy that seeks to defend U.S. critical infrastructure and networks as well as support the joint military commander’s goals.
