Michael Atkinson to Be Nominated IC Inspector General at ODNI

Michael Atkinson, formerly senior counsel to the assistant attorney general of the Justice Department‘s national security division, will be nominated as inspector general of the intelligence community under the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

The White House said Thursday Atkinson previously held various roles within the DOJ such as acting deputy assistant attorney general, assistant U.S. attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s office for the District of Columbia, deputy chief and acting chief of the agency’s fraud and public corruption section.

He also served as a trial attorney in the fraud section of DOJ’s criminal division and a partner at global law firm  Winston and Strawn.

Atkinson received an undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and a law degree from Cornell University.
