Kenneth Rapuano: White House will implement modified national cyber strategy soon

1 min read

Assistant Secretary of Defense Kenneth Rapuano has confirmed that the White House will soon begin implementing the modified national cyber strategy, which intends to help the government handle cyber defense and threats, NextGov reported Wednesday.

The new strategy comes after U.S. lawmakers found that the lack of an overarching cyber policy is preventing the execution of government cyber operations.

The report said previous overarching policies were unable to prevent cyber strikes against the U.S. government during the Obama administration.

Rapuano noted that the strategy will inform a cyber posture document from the Department of Defense to be released in August.

The strategy aims to further protect federal government computer networks, maximize government resources to safeguard critical infrastructure and establish standard rules in cyberspace.
