Alan Thomas: GSA to Extend Legacy Telecom Contracts to Facilitate Transition to $50B EIS Vehicle

1 min read

Alan Thomas, commissioner of the General Services Administration’s Federal Acquisition Service, has said GSA will extend for up to three years its existing contracts for telecommunications services to give agencies enough time to transition to the potential 15-year, $50B Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions contract.

Thomas wrote in a blog post published Thursday that the extended legacy contracts such as Networx, local service agreements and WITS will have a one-year base term and two option years.

GSA has requested agencies to issue solicitations by March 31 for the EIS vehicle and work on their modernization, budget and implementation plans to facilitate their transition to the new contract.

GSA will assist agencies in their move to EIS through the infrastructure advisory group and the Transition Ordering Assistance program.

Ten companies won spots on the EIS contract that GSA awarded in 2017.
