The office of inspector general at the Department of Commerce announced that it will conduct an audit of the U.S. Census Bureauâs security measures for information technology systems that will be used to support the 2020 count.
Frederick Meny, assistant inspector general for audit and evaluation, wrote a memo Thursday to Census Bureau Director Steven Dillingham informing him of OIGâs plan to begin the audit immediately.
âOur audit objective is to determine the effectiveness of security measures for select IT systems that support the 2020 Census,â according to the letter.
The memo said the OIG partnered with the U.S. Digital Service through a memorandum of understanding to help with the audit.
