DOE Selects Participants for High-Performance Computing Investment

The Department of Energy is investing $3.6M in projects that tackle energy-focused high-performance computing.

The projects will work to address mobility, materials and manufacturing challenges under the High-Performance Computing for Energy Innovation or HPC4EI program, DOE said Tuesday.

Participants will gain access to high-performance computing facilities within DOE’s national laboratories.

“From industry to academia, the scientific need for advanced computing continues to drive innovation and development for future high-performance computers and their capabilities,” said Daniel Simmons, assistant secretary at the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.

The participating teams are:

  • Chicago Transit Authority

  • City of San Jose – Department of Transportation

  • Dow

  • General Motors

  • LM Industries Group

  • PPG Industries

  • Praxair

  • Saint Gobain Ceramics and Plastics, DBA SEFPRO

  • Sinter Print DBA Elementum 3D

  • United Technologies Research Center
