$53B for National Intell Program, $17B for Military Intell Program in FY17 Budget Request

budget analysis reviewThe Office of the Director of National Intelligence has requested $53.5 billion in total appropriations for the National Intelligence Program for fiscal year 2017.

ODNI said in a fact sheet published Tuesday NIP funds the Intelligence Community’s efforts at CIA, ODNI and six federal agencies including the departments of Defense and Justice.

According to the document, the discretionary budget would be used to support intelligence collection and sharing and promote counterintelligence and counterterrorism programs under NIP.

ODNI’s budget request also includes funds for overseas contingency operations and implementation of cloud platforms in order to ensure security of intelligence data and facilitate efficiency.

DoD said in a separate release that it also requested $16.8 billion in funds for the Military Intelligence Program for FY 2017.

The budget proposal for MIP includes the base budget and funds for OCO, according to DoD.
